At Byng Elementary, we provide a variety of after-school robotics programs, including
Jr. Botball and First Lego League.
Jr. Botball Challenge Curriculum
This interactive program was developed to teach STEM fundamentals and help students of all levels achieve success. The hands-on activities focus on improving computational thinking skills and promoting mastery of concepts. Students will learn how to write code in the C programming language. Learning to code improves computational thinking skills and problem-solving, which relate to improved math performance. They will also get real-life direct applications of the engineering design process. Participants gain valuable practice in critical thinking, decision-making, collaboration, analytical skills, adaptive learning/flexibility, creativity/innovation, and communication.
This guy always goes above and beyond! We are excited to have him return next year to take robotics to another level! He will be doing Battle Bots before we know it!!
These two earned several badges today by completing several challenges! Their coaches were very proud of them!
It took a lot of perseverance and problem-solving for these two young men! They worked hard on the challenges.
These young ladies put in a lot of effort coding!!! They were able to complete several challenges to show to the judges!
What is
FIRST®LEGO® League?
The First Lego League introduces science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to children through fun, exciting, hands-on learning. Participants gain real-world problem-solving experience through a guided, global robotics program, helping today’s students and teachers build a better future together.
The League’s three divisions inspire youth to experiment and grow their critical thinking, coding, and design skills through hands-on STEM learning and robotics.
Kten surprised our school today by wanting to do a story about our excellent robotics students. The kids had a wonderful time showing Kten their skills.
The first day of Explorer League robotics was a hit! They were highly engaged and ready for the fun to begin!
The first day of Explorer League is always fun and exciting!!
Fourth graders love showing off what they have learned during a semester of robotics. Their amazing ideas came to life, and it was fun watching our future engineers excited about their ideas and creations.
Mrs. Wood and Mr. Widner enjoyed all of the Explorer League presentations.
